William Elliot is a character from Persuasion, an American drama film directed by Carrie Cracknell from a screenplay by Ron Bass and Alice Victoria Winslow, based on the novel of the same name by Jane Austen. The character is portrayed by Henry Golding.
Mr. Elliot is "the callous and classic Austen foil." He is a distant relative of Anne's and heir presumptive of Anne's father. He is cold and calculating, scheming his way into inheriting the Elliot title and property.
Eight years after Anne Elliot was persuaded not to marry a dashing man of humble origins, they meet again. Will she seize her second chance at true love?
